January 25, 2009 Update
The 6th annual Telles Rock Supper Bole Run is coming up!
We invite interested runners, joggers, and hikers to join us on our next adventure on the
Ohlone trail, the Telles Rock Supper Bole Run on Sunday, Feb. 1. We
will head up the trail from Lichen Bark, Del Valle Regional Park at
8AM. (one hour earlier than NYD). Happy Half-hour with coffee and
course descriptions including printed maps begins at 7:30. The
weather can vary dramatically, so dress accordingly.
The Telles Rock course is ~50K and passes by Murietta Falls, twice
over Rose Peak, and includes a climb out of the scenic canyon between
Telles and Goat Rocks. Anticipate long steep slopes (1120 ft elev
gain in one mile past Telles) and beautiful sights.
Shorter options are available: Rose Peak via the Falls: 22 miles,
Falls loop: ~15 miles, Rocky Ridge: ~6 miles)
This is a no fee, no football chat, arduous fun run, and it is
self-supported with water faucets located at several points along the trail.
Del Valle park is located south of Livermore. Take N. Livermore exit
south, follow through town as it becomes S. Livermore Ave and then, as it
curves left, it becomes Tesla Rd. Turn right on Mines Rd and follow ~3.5
miles where you stay right on Del Valle Rd that goes up over the ridge
another ~3.5 miles until you reach the kiosk. Have $8 ready ($6 for
parking if you don't have EBRPD pass) and $2 permit/pass for the Ohlone
trail. Asking park personnel about that group run is discouraged. Drive
straight (don't turn right after kiosk) across bridge, then turn right and
follow until the end of the road and Lichen bark parking area and the
Ohlone trailhead.
If you are interested in joining in the fun and/or have questions
please send email to info@tellesruns.com
We'd like to have an approx foot count, so RSVP's much appreciated.
We hope to see you Feb 1!
